Students are working hard on their classes as we come to the midway point between the beginning of school and the end of the first quarter. There is so much to learn and so much to do before the quarter ends on 10/20.

Teachers are reporting academic gains and we know from our Fall MAPS scores that we have a lot to work on!

This week we had our monthly ASB Meeting. The ASB reviewed school-wide data and we worked on our School Improvement Plan.

We hosted Migrant Ed/Family Night on Thursday. Seven families came to work on crafts, enjoy the monthly story Berry Magic, and pick some books to read. We had such a great time and are looking forward to next month!

Cross Country is travelling to Bethel to participate in the Regional meet! We wish them all well as they compete!

NYO and Mixed 6 Volleyball have begun! Students who are participating in Sports are working on keeping their grades and attendance up!

Robotics also began this week! We have a Progression of FIRST Robotics Programs for students to participate in.

  • Grades K-3 can work with Ms. Sharon on Jr. FIRST LEGO League (Jr FLL)
  • Grades 4-8 can work with Mr. G. on FIRST LEGO League (FLL).
  • Grades 7-12 can work with Mr. Sweet on the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).

Grades and attendance still need to be maintained by students who wish to participate.

Our attendance for the week 9/22 is as follows:

 Student attendance = 92%

Staff attendance = 97%

Word of the Week:

The word of the week is Love (Kenka). Our Third Grade class led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and shared the word of the week in the Language of the Day each day!

We are practicing love in Akula as we learn to treat others with kindness and respect.
